5 Reasons Why Content Marketing Is Important For Your Business

1. Consistent Marketing Material

As a business owner, you're always trying to reach your target audience but the constant generation of marketing materials is taxing for yourself and even troubling if your staff doesn't know what to create.

This results in the reposting of old marketing materials that bore the hell out of your audience which cause dropoffs.

With Content Marketing, you don't have to put up old marketing materials, you can put up content that is relevant to the audience interest.

For example, you're a Life Coach and you love talking about careers and finance. But these topics can be boring and hard to be read by regular joes. So instead of using thesis and old experience, you relate your experiences to current affairs to bring the message across.

Like the above infographic, you get the message across by relating it to current affairs aka the Evergrande Financial Issue.

2. Indirect and not Salesy

I know you want to directly talk to your prospect or your audience about your product, but you gotta remember that people don't want to be sold to. So direct and salesy approaches often fail!

With content marketing, you can share about your product (even the dry-est ones) with your audience at a better information retention rate.

Say you're selling a financial product about investment, and you want to get the message across about diversifying. Instead of outright saying diversification all the time on your LinkedIn or in your sales email/pitch/call etc., you share about an anecdote about it like this:

This easily lightens up the mood for your audience and now you're seen as a thought leader instead of a salesperson, which improves your credibility and increases your chance of closing this deal.

3. Branding

In today's time and age, branding is crucial. Being positioned as a thought leader is worth something.

People respect your ideas, your suggestions and your words matter.

By constantly using content marketing, you'd position yourself well in that pillar where you can use it to your advantage.

4. Platform Advantage

Another beauty of consistent content marketing is that you'll find the algorithm would work in your favour. Be it Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn - these platforms love consistent postings.

And your consistent content would help get favoured by the algorithm which would, in turn, show your content and brand to more people.

5. Low Cost

Gone are the old days of using big billboards that would cost a bomb or hold physical roadshows that would barely reach anyone. With social media and content marketing, you can easily reach millions of people at a relatively low cost.

We normally measure this by the Cost-per-click/view (CPC/V) metric and it is definitely way cheaper if you compare this metric with the likes of traditional media.

In conclusion, Content Marketing is the smarter way to talk about products or businesses. If you're not using it, you should definitely give it a try!
